Blog: The end of an ice age

14/02/2017
Nature is at her best in transition, and "on the edge". Today I was a spectator of such a situation: the receding winter. End of another Ice Age. Floating ice and ice water were sloshing waves are being thrown against the dike and the reeds, which resulted in beautiful images: a garden of ice on the edge of the Markermeer.

And then I am always striked by the indifference of our fellow men. In the thick half hour that I was enjoying this beautiful spectacle and photographing it, there was no one else who stopped, not even to have a quick look from the car. Incomprehensible. There is so much joy in nature and all the big and small miracles it shows us.
